Never Flinch – Stephen King

Today, May 27th 2025 is Stephen King Day, his new book is here. This time it’s a thriller, maybe more of a Whodunnit, something he’s never properly tried before but the downside for me is that it’s more of Holly Gibney, a character who’s already had more than her fair share of page time but, it’s King, the master of horror, the one of many constant readers (Yes I’m One of the Many) so I’ve just got to read this, flinching or not.

Thrilling Whodunnit!

Black Mamba – William Friend

“The suspense slips its coils around you…”

Widower Alfie is Father to twin girls, their mother Pippa was a twin herself before her recent tragic death. The girls have an imaginary friend they call Black Mamba, invisible to all except them yet Alfie is struggling to accept his daughter’s reality. Pippa’s twin Julia, a psychotherapist by day, offers her help for the girls but remembers her own past with Pippa, their own Father’s death still raw in her mind, could the past be rearing its ugly head?

Very disappointing, the ending could’ve been so much better.

The Vanishing Triangle

This Tv series centres on reporter Lisa Wallace who’s intent on finding the man who murdered her mother 20 years earlier. When young women start going missing and Lisa receives some interesting mail, she believes it’s the same man responsible and, with the reluctant help of the local Police, sets out to find him.

Loosely based on the unsolved murders of and disappearance of Irish women from the late 1980’s to the late 1990’s.

Very Good 😎👍🏻

Raining Stones – Movie

Starring Bruce Jones and Ricky Tomlinson, this Ken Loach comedy drama centres on job seeking mates Bob (Bruce Jones) and Tommy (Tomlinson) as they plan various money making schemes to put food on their family tables. When Bob hears of his daughter’s need for a communion dress, he goes the extra mile to obtain the funds but, unbeknownst to his wife Anne, Bob’s desperation could be very costly.

Very Good 😎👍🏻
