The Shining (1977)

Another masterclass from the pen of Stephen King. The Shining is a novel of psychological horror.

Jack Torrance (a writer to be) becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer’s block.

He settles in with his wife Wendy and their son Danny who is plagued by psychic premonitions. Danny’s visions become more disturbing and whilst Jack discovers the hotel’s dark secrets he begins to unravel.

This is a Fantastic book, Kubrick’s 1980 movie adaptation is also pretty good but if you’ve neither read the book or seen the movie I strongly advise that you read the book first.
