The Eyes of Darkness – Koontz

I was unaware of his rumoured prediction of Coronavirus contained in this book when I read it. It seemed to be another run of the mill lost child novel and it’s not until toward the end of the book that any virus is actually mentioned so, Koontz’s so called prediction aside, this is a pretty decent thriller about a mother who can’t accept the death of her son especially when she starts receiving messages which fuel her belief that her son is still alive and with the help of her ex military lawyer boyfriend goes in search of her son.

The Outsider – Stephen King

I’ve recently read this book for a second time whilst simultaneously watching the HBO series based on it.

Overall, I was very disappointed with the series, there were too many deviants from the book (which is bloody brilliant) and didn’t even cover it’s ending correctly.

If anybody wants my advice, read the book & avoid the series unless you’re looking to find a cure for insomnia.

The Rabbit Hunter – Lars Kepler

Book 6 of the Joona Lima series sees the return of… No, that would be a major spoiler?!!

There’s a face at the window… A stranger wearing a mask… He’s watching his victim before he kills him slowly, making him suffer for at least 19 minutes… Playing him a nursery rhyme as he makes him pay… A killer in your own house and only one person can stop him.

As per every one of the previous five Lars Kepler books, this is another enthralling, thrilling read that keeps you guessing right til the very end when, just as you’re thinking it’s all over, it’s left on another bloody cliffhanger that makes the wait for Book 7 even more punishing!!

STALKER – Lars Kepler

This is Book 5 in the Joona Lima series and after The Sandman (Book 4) ended on a slight cliffhanger I needed to start on this one sooner than planned.

A film arrives at NCID showing a woman in her home unaware she’s being watched. The Police don’t take it seriously… until she’s found murdered. When the next video arrives, Detective Margot Silverman frantically attempts to identify the victim, but they’re already dead because at the time the video was sent, the killer was already inside their house. Stockholm is soon in the grip of terror, who will the stalker target next?

The Sandman – Lars Kepler

The fourth book in the series, after The Hypnotist, The Nightmare & Fire Witness featuring Finnish cop Joona Lima.

As good as, if not better than debut The Hypnotist. Books Two and Three were pretty good too but this fourth book is arguably the best one yet.

Jurek Walter is Sweden’s most prolific serial killer. He will lull you into a sense of calm. He has one target left. Enter The Sandman at your peril!

The Pinhoe Hoard

This is a venue in Exeter, Devon we’ve been meaning to try for a while now so when we couldn’t decide where to go for lunch we stopped dithering and chose to go there.

It’s a really nice venue, inside and out with a friendly atmosphere but some of the staff aren’t very approachable and the food takes ages to arrive and when it does it’s sometimes overcooked (had to send money back) then they had run out of the dessert we wanted so overall it was pretty disappointing but, food and service aside we’d probably go there again.

The Outsider Tv Series

As one of Stephen King’s many constant readers I read this book when it was released in 2018 and, like I do most of his novels, I loved it so when I heard HBO were doing a tv series my schoolboy excitement reared it’s head!

I’ve only watched two episodes so far but, as television adaptations go, The Outsider is really good, Id say a must watch even if you’re not a constant reader of the master of horror.

The Chestnut Man

This is the Debut novel from Soren Sveistrup, the writer of tv series The Killing and it did not disappoint.

As page turning thrillers go this one has to be right at the very top, enthralling isn’t a strong enough word for this.

I’d say that a movie or tv series adaption just has to follow in the next few years, sooner if possible but if you only read one thriller this year it must be this one!!
