Mychophoria – Tom Adams

This was a freebie on kindle Prime (Yes I do like my freebie reads don’t I?!!😂) but it’s also by one of the many Independent horror authors that I’ve never tried and as I’m one myself it’s only fair to check out other peoples work if I want others to check out mine

“Deep beneath the earth of a North Cumbrian wood lies the germinating mass of a fungus like organism…”

The Girl with all the Gifts – M R Carey

Started this one yesterday. I’ve heard it’s meant to be pretty good, some say better than the movie so, we shall see.

Yes. It was Ok. A little tedious in parts but overall a decent read though it’s left very open and “Those” books do annoy me! But it has got me wanting to watch the movie maybe just to see whether the “Open” ending was kept in or not but if you like an apocalyptic thriller this book sure is for you.

The Orchard – Charles Grant

I’ve heard a few good reviews about this author’s work and since this one was cheap on Amazon I decided to give him a try…

It was a warm evening in Oxun Station, Perfect for a picnic… If they hadn’t chosen to visit the orchard.

Yes. Um… Not much really to say about this book except for very little of the book takes place in an orchard and it’s not clear exactly what the fcuk is going on?!!

After Alice Fell – Kim Taylor Blackmore

The latest offering from Prime’s monthly Free kindle books.

After hearing of her sister Alice’s death at the sanitarium, Marion Abbot believes it was more than accident or suicide and is determined to find out the truth so her sister can rest in peace but can she save herself?

This is pretty good. Not the longest book or the most original that you’ll ever read but still very enjoyable.

Pretty Good!

One Rainy Night – Richard Laymon

I’ve had this one on my TBR for some time now but after reading The Cellar (Pretty Poor) and The Beast House (Just as bad) I was put off slightly from his books though it’s probably time now to give him another go.

This is Ok I suppose. It’s far from great but it’s not awful either. It’s pretty simplistic overall even though it is an original idea (that I know of) Not one I’d recommend tho!!

The Woman in Black – Susan Hill

This so called classic has been on my TBR for a while & I finally got around to it.

It’s okay. It’s nothing special. The movie deviates quite a lot from the book though overall the story is very similar but not at all scary.

This isn’t a book I’d recommend apart from that it’s a very quick read (200 pages) so it will fill a small gap to avert any possible boredom though that is felt when reading it.

An Evil Mind – Chris Carter

A freak accident in rural Wyoming leads the Sheriff to arrest a man for homicide but further investigation suggests a more horrifying discovery.

The suspect claims he is a pawn in a huge labyrinth of lies and deception, can he be trusted?

Got this one finished within a couple days. Blimey it’s so intriguing and enthralling with so many twists, typical of the writing of Chris Carter whose books I highly recommend.

DeathWalkers – Gary Brandner

From the author of The Howling comes… “A new dimension in fear”

What if a person beside you is already dead? Then she breathed again… Joanna was one of the dead but she was bought back to life only for people, nice people, trying to kill her, people who were already dead.

Only about 220 pages to this, finished it within a day and it was pretty good tbf. Will look at other books by this author.
