The Asylum- Johan Theorin

As I Particularly enjoy asylum horror I decided to give this unknown author a go…

“Jan has just started working at The Dell nursery but this is no normal nursery. It’s linked to a high security asylum by a dimly lit underground tunnel which is used by the children to visit their parents who are some of the most dangerous psychopaths in the country but Jan has a mysterious reason for being here. There’s something he’s not telling people about his past and there’s someone in the asylum who he really wants to see”

This is pretty damn good 😎👍🏻

Sadly, it’s left with unanswered questions, the biggest one of the protagonist Jan Hauger which was a little frustrating after such a well built up storyline but even with that this is most definitely a ‘Must Read‘ and I’m now gonna be looking out for more of this author’s work👍🏻

The Kind Worth Killing – Peter Swanson

After reading the synopsis for this it was an instant buy.

Enthralling and intriguing throughout, a real page turner that’s so difficult to put down til it’s finished. Ted meets Lily at the airport when their flight gets delayed. They get talking. Ted hates his adulterous wife, he wants her dead. Lily says she can help, ensuring the lover gets blamed for murder. Sounds simple…but is it??

The Dangerous Kind – Deborah O’Connor

Purely a cover buy aided by the synopsis but… Wow! What a Great read😎👍🏻

“Jessamine Gooch hosts a radio show about convicted killers but when she’s approached for help in solving a current case, the disappearance of troubled mother Cassie Scolari, her interest in the case causes problems for her and a dark figure close to home threatens the safety of Jessamine and her family”

Highly Recommended😷😎👍🏻

Superb!!

Dark of the Moon – PJ Parrish

This is the debut novel in which we meet Detective Louis Kincaid in which he returns to his hometown to investigate a slaying but wasn’t prepared for the ominous reaction from the townspeople whom had previously treated him as an outcast. Suspicion and Terror descend over the quiet streets of Black Pool as Kincaid hunts a shadowy killer whose work is far from over.

This is Very Good. A superb debut novel though it does include some racist views (Tis about a negro detective in 1980’s Mississippi) but nothing too severe. Louis Kincaid is called back to his hometown as his mother is dying and he gets a job at the local sheriffs office though him and his investigating ways aren’t welcomed by all around him and when some thirty year old human bones are found he will not let it go until he feels justice has been bought to the victim becoming embroiled in something very dangerous to himself and to others.

Murder at the British Museum – Jim Eldridge

This is the second book in what’s known as The Museum Series and is the next investigative adventure for ex Ripper Cop Daniel Wilson and his new sidekick Abigail Fenton. A brutally stabbed body has been discovered in a locked cubicle of the British Museum’s toilets yet nobody saw or heard anything!

Over to Daniel and Abigail for another museum murder mystery that plays out very similar to its predecessor, why did I think that it wouldn’t?!! These books are so similar I’m gonna give the series a break before I get to books three and four!

Murder at the Fitzwilliam – Jim Eldridge

I’ve recently found out about this intriguing series of historical murder mystery books after finding the first four in a charity shop.

Just started this, the first one in the series that features former Ripper Detective Daniel Wilson now working as a Private Enquiry Agent investigating local cases of interest which in this case is bodies found amongst the Egyptian showcase at a local museum.

It’s pretty okay tbf. It’s no classic but it’s still an enjoyable read, very light hearted and easy to read. I’m gonna be getting to the second book now!

Mister X – John Lutz

“Fear leaves a mark…”

“He mutilates his victims, cuts their throats then carves an X into their flesh. Five years ago he claimed the lives of six women, then the killings stopped and nobody knows why. He was never caught”

This is pretty damn good. I’d never heard of this book or it’s author it was purely a cover buy some months ago that I recently decided to try and I’m glad I did!

Fast paced throughout, multiple storyline twists and an ending that I just wasn’t expecting makes this a highly recommended thriller!😎👍🏻
