The Evil Within – S M Hardy

“An Exciting and Gripping Supernatural Mystery!”

This is her debut paranormal novel, Part One of Dark Devon Mysteries. Jim Hawkes, on the brink of a breakdown, quits his job in the city and rents a cottage in the Devon countryside as he seeks some much needed rest but he soon finds out that it’s not quite the peaceful haven he was hoping for.

I really enjoyed this. It’s a great story with very likeable characters, especially Jim and Lucy and unlike some supernatural books I’ve read it’s not full of over descriptive repetition. I’ve finished now and was disappointed when it was over even though the question remains “Who killed Krystal Morgan & Marie Baker?” as it’s only mentioned someone whom could’ve! There is a sequel out called “Evil Never Dies” which I’ll soon be getting onto😎👍🏻

Professor T (Tv series)

Starring Ben Miller as the irrepressive Professor, haunted by family trauma, his intelligence and arrogance joined by OCD (like a mix between Sherlock & Monk) whose help is enlisted by DC Lisa Donckers, one of his former students to help in a recent crime at the University but who ends up, much to the annoyance of fellow detective Paul Rabbit as part of the investigation team.

Enjoyable 😎👍🏻

Summer of Night – Dan Simmons

I’ve been wanting to read this for some months now. After hearing so many good reviews about it, some people even compared it to Stephen King’s IT as another great coming of age horror so for me, IT being my favourite book, I just had to give this one a go!!

My copy arrived today, was able to order a brand new copy thanks to my 169/1 13fold winning acca last weekend 😎👍🏻

I will now be entering the world of Elm Haven…

Pretty Good👍🏻

Yes. It’s Ok, better than Ok actually but it’s so similar to Stephen King’s IT that I probably didn’t enjoy this as much as I would’ve if I hadn’t read IT! There are so many similarities right down to the group of kids (The Losers Club in IT) and the shape shifting entity (Pennywise in IT) so, if you’re gonna read this Tis best if you haven’t yet read IT as I’m sure you’d then enjoy this one more😷😎😉👍🏻

Icebound – Dean Koontz

It was bloody hard work getting through this one. Not because it’s a long book coz it ain’t but coz the first 200 pages are so boring! Fcuk all happens and many times I put it down, sometimes in my DNF pile but I persevered slowly… Finally finishing it almost a month after I started it!!

It’s about a team of people sent out to explode an iceberg to help with the worlds water supply but they inadvertently get stuck on the bomb filled berg with slight radio contact with their base station and to add to their woes one of the party is a killer!

Yes it got better halfway through, not much though and there was little explanation of why the killer was who it was! Overall: Very Disappointing.

Pretty Poor!

Fear Street Trilogy

Yeah, where to start with this!

I knew nothing about this until one evening I noticed Part One (1994) on Netflix. It looked like it could be my kinda film so I gave it a go… Wasn’t overly impressed with it TBH.

Then, once you find out what’s going on (Pretty Silly!) you realise you should watch the next two instalments to gauge the full story though Part Two (1978) mostly concerns the story of one character so Twas unnecessary IMO but Part Three (1666) which finally explained what was going on was a bloody letdown! Wish I hadn’t bothered watching it!!

The Secret of Anatomy – Mark Morris

This was a definite cover buy, 50p from a local boot sale so Twas a no brainer!

“Whilst walking on the beach debating what to do with himself with the mid life crisis he is suffering, David Fox finds a bottle with a message inside. The message appears to have been written in 1953 by a boy called John who says his Father is trying to kill him and now David feels compelled to find out what happened all those years ago but the truth, when he finds it, is more bizarre and horrific than he could ever have imagined…”

Looks Good!!

Finally finished this 600+ page beast. It started off Pretty Good but got a bit weird and dragged on a bit. It didn’t need to be as long as it is IMO and I took me time with it but if you like having a large book that you can keep coming back to without the worry of forgetting what’s going on this is ideal.

Aberystwyth Mon Amour – Malcolm Pryce

This was a complete cover buy. It sounds like a hard case crime novel but after a little research I’ve found out it’s the first of a series of books by this author.

This isn’t great. Though the premise “P.I. Louie Knight investigates the disappearance of several children whilst falling for a woman he shouldn’t be” gives off vibes of what could be a good read, the reasoning for and outcome of is stupid, very poor. I won’t be reading any more from this series or author that’s for sure.

Wolf – Mo Hayder

Though I disliked Pig Island, the only other book of hers that I’ve read, purely coz it was yet another thriller where an innocent man gets framed by a manipulative female (that scenario really does annoy me) and I swore I’d not read any more of her feminist junk again but I saw this for 50p at a local boot sale , so?!!

Let’s see if she can change my opinion of her…

NO. She can’t. More bloody feminist Bullshit! She bloody hates men! That’s me done with her now!!
