Discovered these two beauties in a local charity shop for the princely sum of 50p each!! I’m looking to get to them soon…

Finally finished this last night. Though it’s only a shortish book it did take me a few sittings alongside Yellowhammer by James Henry but it’s an okay read, Nowt spectacular or thrilling though it is intriguing . Would I recommend it? Maybe. This is the only book of his I’ve read and am in no rush to read any more but if you’ve read and enjoyed other books by him you’d probably enjoy this too. Just a shame the Dr Wolfe character was left open!

Having recently read and enjoyed his debut novel “The Christmas Killer” Twas only a matter of time before I got onto this one which I luckily found a copy of in a local charity shop earlier this week.
“A year has passed since DI Walker cracked his biggest case yet and he’s hoping for peace and quiet this festive season. Across the fells, a local farmer returns home on Christmas Eve to find footsteps in the snow leading down to his unused cellar but no footsteps leading away. Days later his body is found, alongside those of his wife and daughter. With no neighbour for miles there are no witnesses and little evidence though the crime scene has strange echoes of another horrendous murder that took place at the farmhouse some 24 years earlier…”
This is Great. Even better than his debut novel “The Christmas Killer” which itself was very good.

I’ve had this one on my TBR list and in my Amazon basket for over twelve months but I’ve finally found a £1 copy in a local charity shop.
“Glamorous socialite Noemi’s life of parties and entertainment is interrupted when she receives a letter from her frantic sounding newlywed cousin Catalina, who is begging to be rescued from a mysterious doom and Noemi immediately sets off to High Place, an estate in the mountains of Mexico owned by the secluded Doyle family, determined to discover what is troubling her beloved cousin”
This is pretty Okay. It’s not outstanding like some reviews of it would have you believe but it’s certainly not poor. It’s definitely worth reading if you’re a fan of gothic/historical horror.

Discovered this one in a local charity shop, I’d not heard of the book or of the author but it’s synopsis persuaded me to part with a whole 50p for it!
“A woman is found butchered on a Lancashire housing estate, her tongue and eyes brutally gouged out. A Ritual murder or Crime of passion? It’s up to newly located DC Maganity to investigate with a little help and hinderance from her partner, reporter Jack Garrett, the reason for her relocation from London and with a recent spate of child abductions happening, DC Laura Maganity soon realises that life up north is far from peaceful and when Jack meets a man who protests that he paints the future – prophecies of horrific events – it becomes terrifyingly clear that many people, including his own family, are in grave danger”
This is bloody awesome. It would make a great Tv series. Keeps you guessing throughout and just when you think you’ve got it… You haven’t!!

I discovered this debut novel by pure chance but it sounded so good I just had to try it😎👍🏻
Yes. This is Very Good. It’s a little similar to Ruth Ware’s Turn of the key (which is also good) but still well worth reading. “Lucia and her older sister Bianca live with their parents and younger siblings in a run down cottage in the middle of nowhere and at the height of a stifling summer, unexplained noises and occurrences in the house begin to disturb the family. Years later, Lucy is drawn back to her childhood home when a group of strangers are looking to discover the truth about the house but is Lucy ready to confront what really happened all those years ago?”

The title drew me to this one and as soon as I’d read the synopsis I was hooked. The easiest £4 I’ve ever spent!
This is bloody superb! I was hooked from the very first page and could quite easily have read it in one sitting had I not the need to sleep?!! This not only has a great storyline full of great characters, especially that of Inspector Anjelica Henley (though promiscuous she may be, a trait I despise) and Detective Ramouter, it also has a good interwoven storyline so, like all good thrillers it keeps you guessing throughout leaving you wanting more as soon as it ends and luckily there is a sequel out in July “The Binding” so I can only assume that Henley’s stressed husband Rob doesn’t appear due to his demanding ultimatum he gave to Anjelica in this first outing but we’ll see. No such fool as a man who won’t leave his cheating wife.

As a fan of The Beatles, of Lennon’s song writing skills and his solo music career I was always curious as to why anyone would want to murder him. Obviously the bloke (Mark Chapman) wasn’t wired up right, stating his reason for killing his idol came to him after reading Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye. Yeah, Crazy! But, as soon as I saw this book I wanted to read it, hoping it would answer some questions or bring some foresight into the twisted mind of his killer (if that’s at all possible) so here goes… It’ll sure seem like a Hard Days Night but I’ve got me Ticket to ride!

This is his debut novel, a book I purchased some months ago that got inadvertently packed in a box and forgotten about… until circumstances changed and we recently had to start going through all our boxes and I found it, remembering instantly that it was one I wanted to read so here it is.
“A serial killer is stalking the streets of Liverpool, gruesomely murdering victims as part of a series of unethical experiments. It soon becomes apparent to investigating officers DI Murphy and DS Rossi that each victim has links to the City of Liverpool University and for DI Murphy it gets very personal as the killer shows knowledge of an murder that was very close to his heart”
Very Good it is too. Highly Recommended to anyone who loves a good thriller and I’m already looking to get more of his work 😎👍🏻

My one Xmas gift this year was this £3 Bargain from Amazon. It’s her debut novel from last year which has been lauded “A literary gothic thriller to chill the marrow” so am happily giving it a bash.
“Living alone in the Highlands, Lauren and her Father Niall enjoy their lives in a small village surrounded by forest. One Halloween night, a woman stumbles onto the road and Niall drives her back to their house. In the morning, she’s gone! Though mysterious like this are not out of the ordinary in the local community Lauren looks for answers in her tarot cards but neighbours know more than they are letting on and when a local teenager goes missing, Lauren is no longer sure who she can trust”
This is actually pretty good as IMO, debut novels probably should be. It’s not a heavy gothic thriller like some are and it’s not overloaded with characters like some are but it’s a great little read if you’ve a few hours to kill (pardon the pun) and I’d definitely look out for other work from this author.
