Last Rites – Neil White

Absolutely loved “Lost Souls” and “Dead Silent” two of his other books so when I found this one in a local thrift store it was an easy £1 to spend. Got started on it recently but now, less than 48 hours later, I’ve finished! Yes, another great read from this author but IMO it’s a bit drawn out once all has been revealed, could probably be at least 50 pages shorter than it is but still another that is highly recommend to any horror/thriller fan.

The Detective and The Devil – Lloyd Shepherd

Another historical thriller from the author of Savage Magic. “London 1815: Constable Charles Horton is called to investigate a brutal murder in the East End, one that mirrors a case from three years prior and he gets drawn into the secretive world of the East India Company. What are they hiding? Why are it’s employees disappearing? The trail takes Horton and his wife Abigail from London to the lonely South Atlantic, on the heels of a killer who seems to be the very Devil”

Very Good this. I’ve found out that it’s the 4th book in a series though am hoping it doesn’t spoil reading the first three as I now wish to do. Historical Thriller was never a go to for me but the few I’ve read have all been really good and I’d highly recommend this author to anyone😎👍🏻

Superbly Creepy!

Dancing with the Uninvited Guest – J Wallis Martin

Found this in a local thrift store for a Quid! Never heard of the author or the book title but Twas the latter that got my attention enough to read its synopsis “A missing girl, A missing man, Nothing is quite what it seems” This is a psychological thriller set in Northumbria, a decaying Manor House, Lyndle Hall, indicates evidence that torments detective Nick Herrol but parapsychologist Audrah Sidow is convinced there is a rational explanation for any event on earth. Both must discover what truth lies at the dark heart of Lyndle Hall.

Yes. Sounds bloody good doesn’t it? It Is too!! Cannot recommend this one highly enough, it’s awesome. How this author isn’t more well known I’ll never know but I’m so determined to get more of her work now. You just have to read this!!!!

Absolutely Superb😎👍🏻

Thinner – Richard Bachman

Obviously it’s really Stephen King, I’d be very surprised if that much wasn’t known to anybody now but it’s one of his that I’ve not yet read but had a copy of for a few years. The movie is okay, Nowt special just an okay movie so I’m hoping that the book is at least equal to it or better.

I’m currently over halfway through it, far from one of his best, it’s miles off tbh but it’s better than his worst which IMO are The Long Walk, The Tommyknockers & From a Buick 8. Finally finished this and, Yes it’s okay, that’s all. Not one of his that I’d recommend but it’s probably still worth a read if you’re ever wanting a secondary read to another, it’s perfect for that😎👍🏻

Dark Matter – Blake Crouch

Horror sci-fi isn’t really my thing but after many good reviews of this author’s work, I thought maybe it’s worth a go so I started with this.

“Are you happy in your life?” are the last words that Jason Dessen hears before his masked abductor knocks him unconscious. He awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits, one of whom smiles down at him and says “Welcone back” This is a world that Jason doesn’t know, one where his wife and child don’t exist and he’s not the ordinary college professor that he thought he was.

This is pretty okay tbf. Slightly confusing at times but once you know what’s happening it’s pretty straightforward. I’d recommend this to any fan of Sci-Fi Thriller/Horror though it’s not technically horror just horrific.

Masterful. Mind bending.

The Winter Killer – Alex Pine

The first two books in this series, The Christmas Killer & Killer in the Snow, are both pretty good. Well, Murder at Christmas time, who doesn’t enjoy that? So when I found out about a third book in the series it instantly became a must read soon as I got meself a copy and now I have.

FEMINISTIC MANIPULATION BOLLOX!!🤬🤬🤬

That’s what this book is all about! One woman admitting to marrying a millionaire just so she can divorce him after a few months and claim half his money then another woman who gets kissed by a man and claims sexual assault but agrees to drop the charges after accepting a bribe from him!! Fcukin’ sick of this power that women have, how do they always get away with it??!!! Enough of it goes on in the real world without having to write about it too. I was enjoying this book until this very disappointing ending😡🤬

Woman Power in Overdrive!!!

Finn – Stephen King

This novella from The Master of Horror is only available on ‘Scribd’ but with a 30 day free trial can easily be read for Free which is what I’m about to do. Actually, it’s what I’ve now done. This is a story about Finn Murrie, a 19 year old kid whose life seems to be full of the same bad luck he’s had so far but does a possible exit from his current existence appear for him?!

This novella is only 30 odd pages long but, as it’s penned by The Master, it’s a very enjoyable short even for Non-Constant Readers😎👍🏻
