The Retreat – Sarah Pearse

Loved her previous book “The Sanitarium” and by the sounds, this one is very similar… “Most are here to recharge and refresh but someone is here for revenge…”

The Retreat is an idyllic island off the Devon coast but, beneath the surface, things are not what they seem. Reaper’s Rock has history, the former playground of a serial killer and that history seems to be repeating itself. They couldn’t wait to stay here, now they can’t leave and would do anything to escape… It’s time for me to enter!!

Loved this. It’s a slow burner beginning, unlike her previous The Sanatorium but once it gets going it definitely surpasses its predecessor IMO and you’re hooked, second half of this is pacy as fcuk and just as thrilling. Definitely give this a go, you’d be mad not to!

Chilling suspense!

Bold Vines – Erica Spindler

This was a pure cover buy and, once I’d read the synopsis it became a must have! I’d never heard of this author before nor any of her books but it sounded so good that I started it today and so far (currently about quarter way in) it’s damn good..

Now finished, Wow! That was Great!! As twisty turny a thriller as you’ll get and very bloody good too. Can’t recommend this one enough😎👍🏻

“Evil cannot remain buried forever…”

Spine Tingling!

Genesis – Chris Carter

“A killing like no other. A killer more twisted than any he’s ever seen before. A case that will test him to the absolute limit. Has Robert Hunter finally met his match?”

I’ve enjoyed every book that I’ve read by this author, especially his Lucien Folter books so I’m looking forward to this. Wow! I was not disappointed, this is absolutely awesome! Just when you think he can’t do better he gives us this. Never have I been so impressed with a whodunnit thriller. I Highly Recommend this book to Anybody. You won’t regret it😎👍🏻

Chilling Terror ride!

The Echo Man – Sam Holland

“Having always been fascinated with the dark and macabre, my love of reading was forged through Stephen King, James Herbert & Dean Koontz” He could be explaining me and my love of horror but the author is describing how this debut novel happened to be.

“Across England, a string of murders is taking place, each different in method but all horrifying and brutal. The Echo Man is copying most of the World’s most evil killers but is just getting started as, soon, he will be ready to outdo them all”

The Creeper – A M Shine

Very recently discovered that the author of “The Watchers” a read of mine that I really enjoyed had now got this book out Free on KU. If you haven’t yet read The Watchers I recommend that you do, it’s a great little horror read but for now I’m ignoring The Watchers, I’m off to meet… “The Creeper“

Nah. Not Good. Very Tedious. The Watchers is much better IMO so if you’re gonna try this author’s work, don’t bother with this one.

The Devil in the Marshalsea – Antonia Hodgson

“London, 1727 and young Tom Hawkins is in trouble. The wayward son of a country parson with a taste for wine, women and cards has led Tom to the irons of notorious debtors prison, The Marshalsea. It’s a dark and dangerous place at the best of times but when an inmate is brutally murdered the prison is soon gripped by fear and suspicion. Worst of all, Tom is sharing a cell with the prime suspect and he must risk everything to uncover the truth or be the next to die”

I love a good historical thriller and this sounds like it’s right up that ancient alley! My debut read of this author too so back in time we go… into the chilling darkness. Yes, I enjoyed this. It’s not quite as fast paced as some have said but it certainly keeps you guessing, just when you think you know who the killer is further evidence brings suspicion in another and Tom Hawkins is such a lovable character that he’s one you hope isn’t one that falls victim inside this horrific place.

Riveting! Spellbinding!

A Psychic Subterfuge – J P Alters

Currently reading this paranormal thriller that was recommended to me. She’s an independent author who, like myself, is testing the publishing waters for the first time and I’m always happy to give new horror authors a go😎👍🏻

I loved this Supernatural horror. Not coz I sorta know the author coz I don’t, not really, I’ve just conversed with her briefly but because it really is a good read with an ending that I did not expect. Word is she’s currently working on a sequel which I’ll definitely be looking out for😎👍🏻
